Welcome !

Welcome to the New Freedom, Pennsylvania Boy Scouts of America Troop 24 website. The website is an important tool in communicating vital information to and from the scouts and their families; as well as keeping the community and visitors informed that Troop 24 is an intregal part of New Freedom and the surrounding communities. As the site is enhanced I welcome any suggestions. Please see me at the scout meetings or e-mail the website administrator with your comments or suggestions through the Contact Us link located in the Menu box.

For visitors to the site, Troop 24 is chartered by the New Freedom Lions Club. The Lions Club support of Troop 24 allows the troop to play an important role in the community by partcipating in projects such as a monthly paper drive to recycle papers, Rail Trail clean-up, blood donations and a food drive that supports the local Food Pantry, etc. Scouts also enjoy the benefits of monthly campouts, sporting activities such as biking, swimming, skiing and the training needed to become an active, responsible member of the community. Boy Scouting is a year-round program for boys ages 11 - 17. Through the Boy Scout program, young men can achieve the core objectives of strengthening character, personal fitness and good citizenship. Troop 24 meets Wednesday nights at 7 PM. Anyone interested in attending a scout meeting to see what scouting is about can contact the troop through the Contact Us link in the menu to the left.

Fund Raisers

Monthly Paper Drive: Troop 24's main fundraising effort is the recycling of newspapers, books and magazines. Papers are picked up on a monthly basis throughout the New Freedom community. The community is asked to place their papers and/or magazines at curbside on the scheduled pick up date. While the pick up date is usually the first Saturday of the month, yellow signs are placed throughout the community to verify the actual date. The actual date can also be found on this website under the calendar section. True Value of Shrewsbury and Crescent Industries of New Freedom have volunteered their services and resources to assist Troop 24 in this very important fundraising activity.

Chick - fil-a: In conjunction with the Chick-fil-a restaurant chain an opportunity has been afforded Troop 24 to raise much needed funds. Every other month on a predetermined night (see calendar) 20% of your food purchased at the Shrewsbury, Pa. Chick-fil-a will be donated to the New Freedom, Pennsylvania Boy Scout Troop #24. Thanks to all those who choose to take advantage of this offer and support the efforts of the Boy Scouts. We would also like to thank the Shrewsbury, Pa. Chick-fil-a restaurant who has afforded Troop 24 this opportunity.

Next night for the Troop 24 Chik-Fil-A fundraiser is Thursday February 16th, 2012.  Please come and show your support.  The fundraiser goes from 5 to 8 PM.
